My new "career"

For those who hv not been updated, I hv been working at the City Council for like 3 weeks now and mostly my job had involved scanning of invoices and then uploading them using some internal software, which is already a very boring job to be doing for like 7-8hrs a day. recently, in the last week, we were introduced to a new task, removing staples from incoming post. Seriously?! and we had to sort them by the following categories:
1. Single page (single sided)
2. Single page (double sided)
3. Multiple pages (single sided print)
4. Multiple pages (double sided print)

oh yes and also, invoices printed on dot matrix printers with the dotted lines holes at the side....

btw, i really dunno who is still reading these blog entries of mine? besides Dan and maybe my 2 sisters if they are not studying/sleeping/watching TV or plucking armpit hairs (u know who u are...)?

it snowed last sunday night here, started abt 10pm and i found out cos andrew ran downstairs in his boxers holding his book and telling me excitedly to draw the curtains. it was proper heavy snow but only lasted for the night so the next morning was just ...slush (is wet ground from leftover snow that is a bit dirty as well cos the water is mixed w the ground). no more snow since, but the weather has been cold. abt 9 degrees in the day and could be as low as -4 in the night. guess winter is already here.

it was nice to spend the weekend with Amelia who was in london for work again and carrying the last of my lugguage with her. she is such a good friend, pple say, and boy do i know it. she has made at least 6 - 8 trips to the UK with my ridiculously heavy lugguage and more shopping list of toothpaste and condoms (which she bought in full uniform at the watsons at Changi airport with a long q behind her! talk abt friendship, even my sister refused to buy for me!)Thanks, Amelia. went to meet her on thurs night after work, had ta-pau duck rice in the hotel, read more gossip mags, watched TV while she slept like a log. Next morn, we got up early and hit Primark at abt 9.30am i think! to beat the crowds and queues, spent the rest of the day wandering down Oxford Street, then at night went back to her fav restaurant at Bayswater for from Chinese food. Finally satisfied my craving for beef hor-fun and also had claypot egg toufu (heavenly!!!). said goodbye to her on sat afternon and headed back via the london tube and train to birm, which was quite a nightmare cos the tube stations were so crowded and a million stairs to navigate w my lugguage and huge COACH paperbag of shoe boxes...

it was really nice to see amelia, a real friend from home. it has been a very lonely and slightly depressing time in the last few weeks, i think i was not sure what i was doing with my life or in this country and what i had given up back home. of cos, it is worth doing for Andrew, but still a lot of things i left behind... and sometimes it hits me harder esp when andrew cannot fully comprehend my frustrations at how things work here as compared to home. or when i feel like a need a friend to just grumble...

another grouse is the medical practice here. we went to register ourselves as patients with a local clinic here and lots of docs and patients here are like of certain origins cos this side of the country has lots of them. and the docs r also of those origins, and the one i saw was an old man. anyway, i had a few short blackout sessions in the last week only a few seconds when i like just blacked out my vision and they happened a few times last week, the last time it happened when i was on train and like just bright lights, then can't hear my surroundings and cannot feel rest of my body, but after a whilewas ok. so i told doc that, he said "it does not fit with anything i know.""i will not be worried". i mean wHAT the F%$?? does not "fit"? how did pple find out abt aids or those new diseases in the recent yrs then? and the more he asked how long the blackouts were and i said like half a min, he said if it was half a min, i will not be there in the clinic at all. then he asked if i was preg and if i had it before, i said yes, few yrs ago started when i had menses sometimes, so he asked maybe menses. anyway, just eat and have enuf sugar and rest well. then he said have your full med check up (sch 3dec) then come back and see him again. i dun think so.....>> i was so fed up, i told andrew in spore the doc would at least listen to my heart beat and blood pressure. that is only minimal. but no, this doc just sat there w his sleepy eyes. fed up... anyway, i will hold him responsible if i should black out and never get up. guess i am no longer in spore,...... hopefully is it really just menses coming...
